I’ve decided to give myself another challenge and entered NYC Midnight’s 11th Annual Short Story Challenge!
It’s a competition in three rounds, each round being an elimination round. The idea is: writers get a genre, a subject, and a character they have to write about, and a word limit to do it in. Writers get a week from the time of learning what they’re writing about til they have to submit their story for the judges.
My first round criteria are:
Genre: Ghost Story (lucky for me!)
Subject: An admission of guilt
Character: A stalker
The first round opened this weekend and closes just before midnight on 28 January. Lucky for me I’ve already created a first draft and am polishing it up for submission.
I have no expectations of winning or even getting through the first round. For me this is an opportunity to get back into the habit of writing, and hopefully stimulate some inspiration for my other work.
Wish me luck! And check back for updates on how I’m doing!
